STANDING ORDER
To
All Forest Guards,
Subject: The keeping of a zoo by keepers of a zoo under the Karnataka Forest Act, 1964, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Forest Act, 1964 (Karnataka Act 5 of 1964), the Environment Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the keeping of a zoo by keepers of a zoo.
2. The matter has been examined. Every keeper of a zoo carrying on the keeping of a zoo shall make an application in Form I to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.
3. The Forest Guard shall ensure that hazardous substance is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests within one hundred and twenty days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Environment Department, Government of Karnataka.
