STANDING ORDER

To

All Deputy Labour Commissioners,

Subject: The employment of inter-State migrant workmen by employers of inter-State migrant workmen under the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962 (Karnataka Act 8 of 1962), the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the employment of inter-State migrant workmen by employers of inter-State migrant workmen.

2. The matter has been examined. Every employer of inter-State migrant workmen carrying on the employment of inter-State migrant workmen shall make an application in Form IV to the Licensing Officer within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Deputy Labour Commissioner shall ensure that certificate of registration is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Licensing Officer within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka.
