STANDING ORDER

All Extension Officers,

Subject: Fishing in a village tank by lessees of a village fishery under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973 (West Bengal Act 41 of 1973), the Commercial Taxes Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to fishing in a village tank by lessees of a village fishery.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessee of a village fishery carrying on fishing in a village tank shall make an application in Form 2 to the Gram Panchayat within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Extension Officer shall ensure that register of buildings is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Gram Panchayat within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Commercial Taxes Department, Government of West Bengal.
