STANDING ORDER

To

All Irrigation Inspectors,

Subject: The execution of canal works by contractors for canal works under the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003 (Tamil Nadu Act 3 of 2003), the Water Resources Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the execution of canal works by contractors for canal works.

2. The matter has been examined. Every contractor for canal works carrying on the execution of canal works shall make an application in Form D to the Tribunal within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The Irrigation Inspector shall ensure that canal is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Tribunal within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
