STANDING ORDER

To

All Ward Officers,

Subject: The collection of solid waste by contractors for solid waste collection under the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1919), the Urban Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the collection of solid waste by contractors for solid waste collection.

2. The matter has been examined. Every contractor for solid waste collection carrying on the collection of solid waste shall make an application in Form C to the Town Planning Authority within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Ward Officer shall ensure that building is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Town Planning Authority within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Urban Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
