STANDING ORDER

To

All Surveyors,

Subject: The loading and unloading of ships by stevedores under the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board Act, 1995, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board Act, 1995 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1995), the Ports Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the loading and unloading of ships by stevedores.

2. The matter has been examined. Every stevedore carrying on the loading and unloading of ships shall make an application in Form 3 to the Government of Tamil Nadu within seven days, accompanied by a fee of one lakh rupees.

3. The Surveyor shall ensure that crew list is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of Tamil Nadu within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Ports Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
