STANDING ORDER

All Regional Transport Officers,

Subject: The use of a private service vehicle by owners of a private service vehicle under the Karnataka Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1957, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1957 (Karnataka Act 35 of 1957), the Transport Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the use of a private service vehicle by owners of a private service vehicle.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a private service vehicle carrying on the use of a private service vehicle shall make an application in Form 1 to the Licensing Authority within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Regional Transport Officer shall ensure that permit is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Licensing Authority within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Karnataka.
