STANDING ORDER

To

All Deputy Tahsildars,

Subject: The taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land under the Punjab Security of Land Tenures Act, 1953, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Punjab Security of Land Tenures Act, 1953 (Punjab Act 10 of 1953), the Revenue Department, Government of Punjab hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every mortgagee of agricultural land carrying on the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land shall make an application in Form 8 to the Land Tribunal within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Deputy Tahsildar shall ensure that record of rights is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Land Tribunal within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Revenue Department, Government of Punjab.
