STANDING ORDER

To

All Civil Defence Officers,

Subject: The operation of a dam in an emergency by operators of a dam under the Tamil Nadu Fire Service Act, 1985, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Fire Service Act, 1985 (Tamil Nadu Act 11 of 1985), the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a dam in an emergency by operators of a dam.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a dam carrying on the operation of a dam in an emergency shall make an application in Form D to the State Executive Committee within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Civil Defence Officer shall ensure that stock is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the State Executive Committee within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
