STANDING ORDER

To

All Superintending Archaeologists,

Subject: The guiding of tourists by tourist guides under the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966 (Tamil Nadu Act 25 of 1966), the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the guiding of tourists by tourist guides.

2. The matter has been examined. Every tourist guide carrying on the guiding of tourists shall make an application in Form VIII to the Director of Tourism within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The Superintending Archaeologist shall ensure that monument is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Director of Tourism within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
