STANDING ORDER

To

All Panchayat Development Officers,

Subject: The collection of Panchayat taxes by collectors of a Panchayat tax under the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the collection of Panchayat taxes by collectors of a Panchayat tax.

2. The matter has been examined. Every collector of a Panchayat tax carrying on the collection of Panchayat taxes shall make an application in Form 2 to the Panchayat Samiti within seven days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Panchayat Development Officer shall ensure that register of buildings is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Panchayat Samiti within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
