STANDING ORDER

To

All Conservation Assistants,

Subject: The management of a museum by curators of a museum under the Maharashtra Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1960, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1960 (Maharashtra Act 12 of 1960), the Tourism Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the management of a museum by curators of a museum.

2. The matter has been examined. Every curator of a museum carrying on the management of a museum shall make an application in Form V to the Museum Board within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Conservation Assistant shall ensure that conservation plan is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Museum Board within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Tourism Department, Government of Maharashtra.
