STANDING ORDER
To
All Gram Sevaks,
Subject: The collection of Panchayat taxes by collectors of a Panchayat tax under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973 (West Bengal Act 41 of 1973), the Social Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the collection of Panchayat taxes by collectors of a Panchayat tax.
2. The matter has been examined. Every collector of a Panchayat tax carrying on the collection of Panchayat taxes shall make an application in Form 1 to the District Collector within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.
3. The Gram Sevak shall ensure that muster roll is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the District Collector within forty-five days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Social Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal.
