STANDING ORDER

All Marriage Officers,

Subject: The management of joint family property by managers of a joint family property under the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997 (Karnataka Act 33 of 1997), the Law Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the management of joint family property by managers of a joint family property.

2. The matter has been examined. Every manager of a joint family property carrying on the management of joint family property shall make an application in Form V to the Registrar of Marriages within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Marriage Officer shall ensure that certificate is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Registrar of Marriages within twenty-one days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Karnataka.
