STANDING ORDER

To

All Village Development Officers,

Subject: Fishing in a village tank by lessees of a village fishery under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973 (West Bengal Act 41 of 1973), the Ports Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to fishing in a village tank by lessees of a village fishery.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessee of a village fishery carrying on fishing in a village tank shall make an application in Form 2 to the Gram Sabha within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees.

3. The Village Development Officer shall ensure that assessment register is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Gram Sabha within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Ports Department, Government of West Bengal.
