STANDING ORDER
To
All Assistant Engineers,
Subject: The sinking of a tube well by owners of a tube well under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876 (West Bengal Act 3 of 1876), the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the sinking of a tube well by owners of a tube well.
2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a tube well carrying on the sinking of a tube well shall make an application in Form B to the Irrigation Authority within seven days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.
3. The Assistant Engineer shall ensure that dispute is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Irrigation Authority within seven days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal.
