STANDING ORDER
To
All Sub-Inspectors of Excise,
Subject: The tapping of toddy by toddy tappers under the Bombay Prohibition Act, 1949, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bombay Prohibition Act, 1949 (Maharashtra Act 25 of 1949), the Consumer Affairs Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the tapping of toddy by toddy tappers.
2. The matter has been examined. Every toddy tapper carrying on the tapping of toddy shall make an application in Form C to the Deputy Commissioner of Excise within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.
3. The Sub-Inspector of Excise shall ensure that transport pass is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Deputy Commissioner of Excise within thirty days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Consumer Affairs Department, Government of Maharashtra.
