STANDING ORDER

To

All Registering Officers,

Subject: The conduct of a pilgrimage by organisers of a pilgrimage under the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966 (Tamil Nadu Act 25 of 1966), the Tourism Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the conduct of a pilgrimage by organisers of a pilgrimage.

2. The matter has been examined. Every organiser of a pilgrimage carrying on the conduct of a pilgrimage shall make an application in Form VII to the Director General within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Registering Officer shall ensure that antiquity is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Director General within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Tourism Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
