STANDING ORDER

All Canal Officers,

Subject: The maintenance of a dam by owners of a dam under the Karnataka Ground Water (Regulation and Control of Development and Management) Act, 2011, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Ground Water (Regulation and Control of Development and Management) Act, 2011 (Karnataka Act 25 of 2011), the Water Resources Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the maintenance of a dam by owners of a dam.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a dam carrying on the maintenance of a dam shall make an application in Form F to the Government of Karnataka within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Canal Officer shall ensure that water course is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of Karnataka within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Karnataka.
