STANDING ORDER

All Shipping Masters,

Subject: The business of a shipping agent by shipping agents under the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board Act, 1995, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board Act, 1995 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1995), the Ports Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the business of a shipping agent by shipping agents.

2. The matter has been examined. Every shipping agent carrying on the business of a shipping agent shall make an application in Form 1 to the Director-General within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of fifty thousand rupees.

3. The Shipping Master shall ensure that cargo is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Director-General within twenty-one days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Ports Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
