STANDING ORDER

To

All Excise Inspectors,

Subject: The sale of liquor for consumption on the premises by bar licensees under the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909 (West Bengal Act 5 of 1909), the Home Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the sale of liquor for consumption on the premises by bar licensees.

2. The matter has been examined. Every bar licensee carrying on the sale of liquor for consumption on the premises shall make an application in Form C to the District Excise Officer within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Excise Inspector shall ensure that sample is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the District Excise Officer within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Home Department, Government of West Bengal.
