STANDING ORDER

All Assistant Regional Transport Officers,

Subject: The driving of a motor vehicle by drivers under the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1974, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1974 (Tamil Nadu Act 13 of 1974), the Energy Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the driving of a motor vehicle by drivers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every driver carrying on the driving of a motor vehicle shall make an application in Form 23 to the Licensing Authority within seven days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Assistant Regional Transport Officer shall ensure that certificate of fitness is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Licensing Authority within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Energy Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
