STANDING ORDER

To

All Surveyors,

Subject: The operation of a ferry by operators of a ferry under the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981 (Gujarat Act 30 of 1981), the Commercial Taxes Department, Government of Gujarat hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a ferry by operators of a ferry.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a ferry carrying on the operation of a ferry shall make an application in Form 5 to the Mercantile Marine Department within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of twenty-five thousand rupees.

3. The Surveyor shall ensure that register of vessels is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Mercantile Marine Department within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Commercial Taxes Department, Government of Gujarat.
