STANDING ORDER

To

All Registrars of Births and Deaths,

Subject: The arranging of marriages by marriage bureaus under the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997 (Karnataka Act 33 of 1997), the Law Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the arranging of marriages by marriage bureaus.

2. The matter has been examined. Every marriage bureau carrying on the arranging of marriages shall make an application in Form III to the Government of Karnataka within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Registrar of Births and Deaths shall ensure that account is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of Karnataka within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Karnataka.
