STANDING ORDER

To

All Junior Engineers,

Subject: The use of water by users of water under the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003 (Tamil Nadu Act 3 of 2003), the Finance Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the use of water by users of water.

2. The matter has been examined. Every user of water carrying on the use of water shall make an application in Form A to the Canal Officer within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Junior Engineer shall ensure that source of water is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Canal Officer within twenty-one days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
