STANDING ORDER

To

All Junior Engineers,

Subject: The management of an irrigation system by a water user association by water user associations under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876 (West Bengal Act 3 of 1876), the Education Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the management of an irrigation system by a water user association by water user associations.

2. The matter has been examined. Every water user association carrying on the management of an irrigation system by a water user association shall make an application in Form G to the Irrigation Authority within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Junior Engineer shall ensure that reservoir is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Irrigation Authority within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Education Department, Government of West Bengal.
