STANDING ORDER

To

All Canal Officers,

Subject: The treatment of sewage by operators of a sewage treatment plant under the Maharashtra Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2009, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2009 (Maharashtra Act 26 of 2009), the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the treatment of sewage by operators of a sewage treatment plant.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a sewage treatment plant carrying on the treatment of sewage shall make an application in Form F to the Irrigation Authority within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Canal Officer shall ensure that permit is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Irrigation Authority within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra.
