STANDING ORDER

All Sanitary Inspectors,

Subject: The keeping of a lodging house by owners of a lodging house under the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act, 1949, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act, 1949 (Maharashtra Act 59 of 1949), the Urban Development Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the keeping of a lodging house by owners of a lodging house.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a lodging house carrying on the keeping of a lodging house shall make an application in Form G to the Corporation within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Sanitary Inspector shall ensure that street is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Corporation within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Urban Development Department, Government of Maharashtra.
