STANDING ORDER

To

All Inspectors of Motor Vehicles,

Subject: The driving of a motor vehicle by drivers under the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1974, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1974 (Tamil Nadu Act 13 of 1974), the Transport Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the driving of a motor vehicle by drivers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every driver carrying on the driving of a motor vehicle shall make an application in Form 29 to the State Transport Authority within seven days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Inspector of Motor Vehicles shall ensure that certificate of fitness is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the State Transport Authority within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
