STANDING ORDER

To

All Canal Officers,

Subject: The execution of canal works by contractors for canal works under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876 (West Bengal Act 3 of 1876), the Environment Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the execution of canal works by contractors for canal works.

2. The matter has been examined. Every contractor for canal works carrying on the execution of canal works shall make an application in Form F to the Government of West Bengal within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Canal Officer shall ensure that permit is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of West Bengal within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Environment Department, Government of West Bengal.
