STANDING ORDER
To
All Panchayat Inspectors,
Subject: The keeping of a village shop by keepers of a village shop under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973 (West Bengal Act 41 of 1973), the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the keeping of a village shop by keepers of a village shop.
2. The matter has been examined. Every keeper of a village shop carrying on the keeping of a village shop shall make an application in Form 5 to the Block Development Officer within seven days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.
3. The Panchayat Inspector shall ensure that market is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Block Development Officer within seven days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal.
