STANDING ORDER

To

All Range Forest Officers,

Subject: The production of plastic packaging by producers of plastic packaging under the Kerala Forest Act, 1961, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Kerala Forest Act, 1961 (Kerala Act 4 of 1961), the Environment Department, Government of Kerala hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the production of plastic packaging by producers of plastic packaging.

2. The matter has been examined. Every producer of plastic packaging carrying on the production of plastic packaging shall make an application in Form III to the Biodiversity Authority within one hundred and eighty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Range Forest Officer shall ensure that hazardous substance is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Biodiversity Authority within one hundred and eighty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Environment Department, Government of Kerala.
