STANDING ORDER
To
All Tahsildars,
Subject: The possession of land by persons in possession of land under the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955 (West Bengal Act 10 of 1955), the General Administration Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the possession of land by persons in possession of land.
2. The matter has been examined. Every person in possession of land carrying on the possession of land shall make an application in Form 14 to the Tahsildar within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.
3. The Tahsildar shall ensure that record of rights is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Tahsildar within fifteen days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the General Administration Department, Government of West Bengal.
