STANDING ORDER

All Divisional Canal Officers,

Subject: The treatment of sewage by operators of a sewage treatment plant under the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003 (Tamil Nadu Act 3 of 2003), the Water Resources Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the treatment of sewage by operators of a sewage treatment plant.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a sewage treatment plant carrying on the treatment of sewage shall make an application in Form G to the Board within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Divisional Canal Officer shall ensure that water course is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Board within twenty-one days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
