STANDING ORDER

To

All Licensing Officers,

Subject: The running of a private market by operators of a private market under the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1919), the Urban Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the running of a private market by operators of a private market.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a private market carrying on the running of a private market shall make an application in Form E to the Town Vending Committee within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Licensing Officer shall ensure that street is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Town Vending Committee within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Urban Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
