STANDING ORDER

To

All Deputy Tahsildars,

Subject: The conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural use by person converting agricultural lands under the Tamil Nadu Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1961, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1961 (Tamil Nadu Act 58 of 1961), the Revenue Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural use by person converting agricultural lands.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person converting agricultural land carrying on the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural use shall make an application in Form 12 to the Land Tribunal within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Deputy Tahsildar shall ensure that mutation is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Land Tribunal within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Revenue Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
