STANDING ORDER

To

All Under Secretaries,

Subject: The holding of a public function by organisers of a public function under the Maharashtra Official Languages Act, 1965, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Official Languages Act, 1965 (Maharashtra Act 5 of 1965), the General Administration Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of a public function by organisers of a public function.

2. The matter has been examined. Every organiser of a public function carrying on the holding of a public function shall make an application in Form E to the Controller within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Under Secretary shall ensure that affidavit is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Controller within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the General Administration Department, Government of Maharashtra.
