STANDING ORDER

To

All Welfare Officers,

Subject: The employment of women entitled to maternity benefit by employers of a maternity beneficiary under the Maharashtra Mathadi, Hamal and Other Manual Workers Act, 1969, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Mathadi, Hamal and Other Manual Workers Act, 1969 (Maharashtra Act 30 of 1969), the Labour Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the employment of women entitled to maternity benefit by employers of a maternity beneficiary.

2. The matter has been examined. Every employer of a maternity beneficiary carrying on the employment of women entitled to maternity benefit shall make an application in Form 1 to the Medical Benefit Council within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. The Welfare Officer shall ensure that benefit is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Medical Benefit Council within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Maharashtra.
