STANDING ORDER

To

All Revenue Inspectors,

Subject: The taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land under the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955 (West Bengal Act 10 of 1955), the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every mortgagee of agricultural land carrying on the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land shall make an application in Form 14 to the Tahsildar within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Revenue Inspector shall ensure that record of rights is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Tahsildar within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of West Bengal.
