OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject: The engagement of gig workers by platform aggregators under the Bombay Industrial Relations Act, 1946, regarding.
1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Labour Department, Government of Maharashtra on the manner in which the engagement of gig workers by platform aggregators is to be regulated under the Bombay Industrial Relations Act, 1946.
2. The matter has been examined. Every platform aggregator carrying on the engagement of gig workers shall make an application in Form III to the Chief Inspector of Factories within ten days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.
3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the engagement of gig workers is undertaken, and the Chief Inspector of Factories shall dispose of it within ten days of its receipt.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Maharashtra.
