OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme under the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Law Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme is to be regulated under the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a rural water supply scheme carrying on the operation of a rural water supply scheme shall make an application in Form 8 to the Panchayat Samiti within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the operation of a rural water supply scheme is undertaken, and the Panchayat Samiti shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Karnataka.
