STANDING ORDER

All Municipal Commissioners,

Subject: The carrying on of a trade by persons carrying on a trade within the municipal limits under the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1919), the Urban Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the carrying on of a trade by persons carrying on a trade within the municipal limits.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person carrying on a trade within the municipal limits carrying on the carrying on of a trade shall make an application in Form E to the Director of Municipal Administration within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Municipal Commissioner shall ensure that building is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Director of Municipal Administration within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Urban Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
