STANDING ORDER

To

All Divisional Canal Officers,

Subject: The management of an irrigation system by a water user association by water user associations under the Maharashtra Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2009, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2009 (Maharashtra Act 26 of 2009), the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the management of an irrigation system by a water user association by water user associations.

2. The matter has been examined. Every water user association carrying on the management of an irrigation system by a water user association shall make an application in Form G to the Tribunal within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Divisional Canal Officer shall ensure that reservoir is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Tribunal within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra.
