OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The ownership of a protected monument by owners of a protected monument under the Karnataka Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1962, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Tourism Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the ownership of a protected monument by owners of a protected monument is to be regulated under the Karnataka Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1962.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a protected monument carrying on the ownership of a protected monument shall make an application in Form IV to the Hotel Classification Committee within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the ownership of a protected monument is undertaken, and the Hotel Classification Committee shall dispose of it within one hundred and twenty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Tourism Department, Government of Karnataka.
