STANDING ORDER

To

All Excise Guards,

Subject: The working of a brewery by brewers under the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909 (West Bengal Act 5 of 1909), the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the working of a brewery by brewers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every brewer carrying on the working of a brewery shall make an application in Form C to the Deputy Commissioner of Excise within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of one lakh rupees.

3. The Excise Guard shall ensure that still is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Deputy Commissioner of Excise within twenty-one days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal.
