OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The treatment of sewage by operators of a sewage treatment plant under the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the treatment of sewage by operators of a sewage treatment plant is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a sewage treatment plant carrying on the treatment of sewage shall make an application in Form F to the Canal Officer within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the treatment of sewage is undertaken, and the Canal Officer shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
