OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The keeping of a village shop by keepers of a village shop under the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Transport Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the keeping of a village shop by keepers of a village shop is to be regulated under the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993.

2. The matter has been examined. Every keeper of a village shop carrying on the keeping of a village shop shall make an application in Form 3 to the Panchayat Samiti within seven days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the keeping of a village shop is undertaken, and the Panchayat Samiti shall dispose of it within seven days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Karnataka.
