STANDING ORDER

To

All Controllers of Weights,

Subject: The business of clearing and forwarding by clearing and forwarding agents under the Karnataka Money Lenders Act, 1961, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Money Lenders Act, 1961 (Karnataka Act 12 of 1961), the Transport Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the business of clearing and forwarding by clearing and forwarding agents.

2. The matter has been examined. Every clearing and forwarding agent carrying on the business of clearing and forwarding shall make an application in Form B to the Registrar of Warehouses within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Controller of Weights shall ensure that bill of lading is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Registrar of Warehouses within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Karnataka.
