OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The foster care of a child by foster parents under the Tamil Nadu Registration of Marriages Act, 2009, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Law Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the foster care of a child by foster parents is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Registration of Marriages Act, 2009.

2. The matter has been examined. Every foster parent carrying on the foster care of a child shall make an application in Form VIII to the Government of Tamil Nadu within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the foster care of a child is undertaken, and the Government of Tamil Nadu shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
