STANDING ORDER

To

All Maintenance Officers,

Subject: The solemnisation of marriages by Marriage Officers under the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code Act, 2024, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code Act, 2024 (Uttarakhand Act 3 of 2024), the Water Resources Department, Government of Uttarakhand hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the solemnisation of marriages by Marriage Officers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every Marriage Officer carrying on the solemnisation of marriages shall make an application in Form VIII to the Maintenance Tribunal within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Maintenance Officer shall ensure that register of deaths is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Maintenance Tribunal within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Uttarakhand.
